This spring, our artists will explore creativity through a variety of cultural traditions, artistic movements, and nature-inspired projects.
We will be inspired by the lush jungle paintings of Henri Rousseau as students create their own vibrant jungle scenes filled with imaginative plants and animals.
Students will also learn about Oregon Quilt Barn Trail and design their own colorful quilt barn pattern on wood, exploring the folk art traditions found throughout rural Oregon.
In celebration of spring pollinators, we will study bumblebees and create beautiful mixed-media artwork using gold leaf to highlight these important creatures.
We will learn about the traditions of May Day and design our own whimsical paper flower crowns to welcome the season.
Looking to global art traditions, students will explore African mask design and create their own painted 3D masks inspired by traditional forms and patterns.
We will also arrange real flower bouquets and study how light creates shadows. Using careful observation, students will draw and transform those shadows into elegant floral shadow art.
Maps will become our canvas as we explore the shapes, lines, and hidden stories within cartography. Students will use real maps as inspiration to create imaginative map-based artwork.
Finally, we will discover Madhubani, a traditional folk art style from India known for its intricate patterns and storytelling. Students will create their own colorful artworks inspired by this beautiful and detailed tradition.
Each project encourages creativity, cultural exploration, and the joy of artistic discovery.
**Good attendance is necessary to ensure maximum progress and enjoyment of class. Classes are non transferable and spots cannot be given or transferred to another child. If an artist misses a class there are NO REFUNDS or MAKE UPS, unless there is an extreme circumstance.
