The youngest age that works well in our studio is around 5 years old (kindergarten). At this age, kids are able to attend to a task, listen to and follow multi-step directions, and comfortably participate in a 75-minute class.
We have had some 4.5-year-olds be successful, especially if they’ve been in a full-day preschool setting and already have that classroom stamina. Those students also tend to really love art, which helps since it’s a highly preferred activity for them.

Not at all. Our motto is that everyone is an artist and can find joy in creating.
Kids don’t need to be “good” at art or naturally artistic—they just need to be willing to try. Most often, when a child is open to experimenting with new materials and techniques, they end up really enjoying the process.
We don’t focus on creating one exact sample piece, which makes kids more willing to take risks and explore. Just like any artist, skill comes with practice and time. And the beauty of that process is that creating is not only enjoyable—it’s incredibly confidence-building when done in a supportive environment.

Kids are greeted by the teacher and the other artists in the class and start by putting on an apron. We then gather at our large screen to look at artwork, usually from a specific artist or style.
We ask questions like, “What do you see?” and “What do you notice?” so kids can observe and share ideas. This helps them connect to what they’ll be creating.
After that, we do a quick demo where we introduce the materials and techniques. Then kids begin working on their own artwork while the teacher walks around, checking in, offering guidance, and making adjustments based on each child’s age and skill level.
Sometimes there’s a second quick demo halfway through to introduce the next step.
At the end of class, we save about 10 minutes for cleanup and our favorite part, art circle. Kids help clean their space, then sit in a circle and hold another student’s artwork. They share what they notice using phrases like,
“I notice this artist…” or “I like how this artist… because…”It’s such a special moment. Then we return the artwork, meet parents outside, and you’ll usually see kids running out with big smiles, excited to show what they created.

Kids don’t need to bring anything, we provide all materials, and there are no additional supply or studio fees.
We do recommend wearing clothes they can create in, just in case, but we also provide aprons for every student.

Our typical class size is 1 teacher to 12 students.
This is a really intentional number. It allows for a range of abilities and gives kids the chance to see and be inspired by each other’s work, while still keeping the class small enough for meaningful teacher support and attention.
It creates the perfect balance of community and individual guidance.

Yes! We offer a FREE kids art class for new families.
We know that once kids experience the studio and become part of the community, families feel much more confident signing up. It’s a great way to try a class before committing.
We have a Drop In Option where a child can jump on any class to try it.
We also offer a 10-Class Whimsy Studio Pass, which is another flexible way to explore different classes and see what your child loves most.

We completely understand, starting something new can feel overwhelming, especially if your child doesn’t know anyone yet.
Our teachers are warm, welcoming, and very intentional about making connections right away. We introduce ourselves, learn each child’s name, and help them feel included from the start.
We also build in simple ways for kids to connect, like asking questions at the beginning of class (“Who’s in 1st grade?” “Who loves painting?”) so they can quickly see what they have in common with others.
Teachers check in often, sit beside quieter students, and gently engage them by noticing and asking about their artwork.
We do encourage a drop-off experience, but if your child needs a little extra time to feel comfortable, we absolutely support that too.

We offer a variety of classes, each with its own focus:
Art Exploration introduces kids to a wide range of mediums like watercolor, gouache, clay, black ink, acrylic, and oil pastels. Projects are often inspired by artists, styles, or techniques, while still allowing for lots of creative freedom.
Drawing Studio is more skill-based. Kids learn techniques like shading, line work, and proportion using pencils, markers, and chalk. This class is more structured and instructor-led, helping kids build real drawing skills over time.
Tinker Lab blends art with building and engineering. Kids use materials like cardboard, wire, wood, and recycled items, along with tools like hot glue guns (with safety protocols). They plan, build, test, and refine their ideas. This class focuses more on the process of creating and problem-solving than the final product. Tinker Lab is something truly unique to our studio.
Across all classes, we focus on both skill-building and creativity. Kids are encouraged to try, adjust, and grow. Because just like learning to ride a bike, becoming an artist takes practice, patience, and confidence.
